Screenwriting and Education Go Meta

While watching the TedX video about the Metaverse I can only think of one way this would apply to my main passion and (increasingly moreso) hobby: Screenwriting.

Imagine a screenwriter who could block out and visualize action in a script using tools that can visualize an entire scene on the fly. One of the trickiest things for me when writing a script, and in particular anything involving action, is keeping control of setting. With a Metaverse one could theoretically visualize an entire setting, and rather than keeping this mentally, a screenwriter could consider it a canvas for which to insert clever direction and build dialogue that is appropriate to the setting.

Outside of screenwriting, I see this technology as potentially useful in online education as well.

What if a history teacher could create a digital environment using 3-d modeling of a important historical event, say the Battle of the Bulge? How amazing would it be to see the professor lecture students via video on the key points of the battle while presenting 3-d environments that are visually stimulating and allow students to immerse themselves into history itself? The kinds of courses presented online at a high-level are growing in their ability to translate what is conventionally taught in person (ie, Anatomy) and how digital can be leveraged to teach almost anything.
